Gymshark (Fitness Fashion Edit)

I’m continuing my ongoing foray into the fitness wear world to find worthy brands and I have to mention Gymshark!

A brand that I’ve been wearing for years now, and a brand that has been, at least, consistent in its quality.

These days, finding consistency in anything is quite difficult so I’m happy to report that I’ve rocked with the brand for some time and continue to do so.

WHAT DO I USE IT FOR?

Knowing where the gear works best is important to understanding the brands and types of athletic wear to buy and for what.

Generally when I work out I’m either out for a run or a walk, at Pilates, teaching Pilates, strength training or lounging. There are also some occasions where I’ll wear certain pieces to ballet rehearsals.

For each of these acts, I required different things and materials (and even sizes).

running

I’ve found that when I’m out for a run I prefer my Flex cycling shorts in a size small or my Vital Seamless Leggings 2.0 in a size small. Smalls tend to be tighter fits for me which keeps them from rolling or otherwise becoming uncomfortable while I run, which is super important to me.

Running is already uncomfortable, I definitely don’t need my clothing to add to that. So what these do for me is, instead of feeling like an extra layer of clothing, I get certain styles (which come in certain material mixes) and certain sizes (usually small, never anything smaller than that) so that it feels more like second skin than extra clothing. Doing that tends to do the trick!

pilates

I’ve found that having clothes that sit either tight to the skin or looser work best for me when I’m doing Pilates. If I’m teaching then I’m generally fine with whichever is most comfortable to me that day.

This is another activity where rolling tops is just too uncomfortable to have to deal with so, depending on the day, I’ll either wear a size small or a medium to compensate for my belly’s tendency to bloat.

For the most part however I’m most comfortable in my Adapt Seamless Leggings or in my Vital Seamless 2.0 Leggings when it comes to pilates so I’m generally grabbing for these items for this type of workout.

lounging

Being at home, for me, means comfy clothes: crew necks and sweats, always! Gymshark is really good for a nice pair of sweats but finding the hoodie to meet my lounge day goals takes a bit more work.

Since cropped everything is still a lot of people’s bread and butter, it’s quite difficult finding a full, oversized hoodie. So, for my hoodies. you can find me swiping over to that Men’s tab to get the full, oversized hoodies that I prefer to lounge (or run errands) in.

strength training

Similar to what I wear within all of the above categories, what I wear to strength train is going to depend on the day. Some days, my skin cannot handle having clothes so close to the skin and other days having clothes hang off of the skin is a nightmare.

So, with that, I’m either wearing my Flex Cycling Shorts in a size small, or my Vital Seamless Leggings in a size small or my Gymshark Lifting Sweats.

What’s In My Cart?

If you didn’t know, Gymshark is about to have a very good sale which starts tomorrow, 9/26, and I have my eyes on a couple of things. Because I’m in full fall comfort mode, I have a couple of sweatsuits in perfect fall colors as well as some gear for running and strength training because you know ya girl is always running or lifting weights!

Keep in mind, however, that if you miss this sale, Gymshark has their bigger annual sale in the Autumn/Fall so you can definitely catch the next batch of deals… I know I will! I rarely pay full price for my workout wear.
